Hello Seabadger,
Does it reset to the same position every time? Or does it vary? If it varies it could mean that the hand doesn't sit tightly on the spindle (is that what you call it?) so every time it is reset it will overswing around the spindle.
If it doesn't vary it could mean that the hand was set out of place.
In either case you should get the hand removed and repositioned snugly at 12.
