Hi Jeff hope you and all are well.
I have just read the part 2 of project 99. Great stuff!!! i did not even realize seiko were close and kept so quiet about their chrono. Anyway what i wanted to ask you was what was the relationship with the chronomatic group and Valjoux? How did the 7740 and 7741 come about because these movements are identical to the calibre 11 but with-out the osilating weight. Could the calibre 11 designs have come from this design or did Valjoux just use the design under licence as long as they did not make it automatic? After all Valjoux where the biggest manufacter of swiss chrono movements during the 60's so it would be natural for them to have had a part in the whole development.
Its also strange that the movement is all siver in colour similar to the 11 not 12. Its also seems to me that it is very strange that the 7740 got such a short production run and how it realationship is with the calibre 11
Anyway i'm just curious into the history of these rare movements..and your the man in the know...keep up the good work.
best regards Nic
