Re: Antiquorum Listing -- Fake Heuer described as "Custom Ma

It is highly interesting that the two D&S and the [. . .ah-hem. . .] Heuer all share the same hands.

It is also interesting that the [. . .ah-hem. . .] Heuer has a coaxial buttoned crown that is a different metal than the case.

This watch, anywhere but Antiquorum, would not be "custom made" but be considered a "Frankenwatch".

I have written about the caution one must use in purchasing from Antiquorum. At the risk of sounding pretentious, it is easier to quote myself than rewrite my observation: "I realized Antiquorum as auctioneer takes no responsibility for the accuracy of the description and guarantees nothing except the watch was not an intentional fake."

Expanding on that thought, Antiquorum is apparently excused, even if it is an intentional fake, by the words "this watch is custom made". Caveat emptor.

My advice has been and continues to be: never purchase a watch from an Antiquorum auction without examining the watch in person, equipped with detailed personal familiarity with the watch in question. To do otherwise is a fool's errand.
