Look on the Bright Side . . .
In Response To: Bummer.. *PIC* ()

Look on the bright side: Our webpage covering the Monaco "Gasket Goop", and our warnings to other purchasers of these old Monacos, are getting better and better, with each passing day.

As I mentioned when we discussed my "Tar Baby", this Monaco had been serviced at least five times over its 35 years of life, and came with all the service papers. Obviously, it was the gasket installed in the most recent servicing (in August 1998) that did the damage. Also, when seller summarized the service papers, he failed to mention a note from 2004, "Crystal Gasket Melted; to clean, some paint may come off the dial."

As my parents used to say, "You live and you learn."
