"Kudos" = Friendly Way of Saying "Congratulations"

Without checking a dictionary, I tend to think of "kudos" as an informal, friendly way of saying "congratulations", with a bit of praise, honor, glory and admiration mixed into the equation.

: Hi Ron, The Reader's Digest two volume "Illustrated
: Encyclopedic Dictionary" defines "kudos" as
: "Acclaim or prestige as a result of achievement or
: position. (Originally British university slang, from Greek
: kudos , glory, fame)". In other words, congratulations on
: an achievement such as your finding this very nice watch.
