Dear David, first of all let me congratulate you for your impeccable taste: the Speedy Pro is a hell of a daybeater indeed.
The answers to your questions now:
- It shares the same movement as the Carrera 1964 re-edition, i.e. the Lemania 1873 (some models have the 71 but only differ for cosmetic features). It is rather the other way round however, i.e. TH went for the Lemania after this movement has been used by Omega on the Speedy Pro for the past 30 years roughly.
- It is a more modern movement than the '60's one (the venerable 321) which is now being coveted by collectors as the Holy Graal as it was the 'real' Moonwatch movement (i.e. all Speedies actually worn on the Moon had that movement). As stated above, however, it is relatively new as now it's over 30 years old itself!
Omega does use newer movements on some Speedies but I'd stick with
the original one, the Moonwatch.
Hope this can help.
Cheers.
