Tomorrow, February 12th, marks the 8th Anniversary of OnTheDash. That's right, it was February 12, 2003, when I sent out the e-mail message launching the website. [This first message is copied below.]

So let's start tomorrow, and post a favorite watch, favorite event, favorite memory, or anything else that captures your experience in the OnTheDash community. Who can recall their first visit to OnTheDash or this forum, their first message posted here, or the first box to arrive, delivering a Heuer.

Looking back at the message that I sent out eight years ago, and seeing that I sent it to 80 recipients, I can hardly recall how I pulled together this list of recipients. I knew most of them from eBay, back in the days when we could see the IDs and send e-mails to all the buyers, sellers and bidders, but it's hard to imagine that we had no forum, no Twitter and no Facebook; Google had not arrived, and the search engines were far less developed than they are today. Of course, gatherings in Switzerland, London, New York and Paris were beyond the realm of possibility, and we had no books or blogs covering the Heuers. What an amazing eight years it's been, since I hit the "send" button on this e-mail message!!

As usual, we will keep this scan week casual . . . post a message over the next eight days, in honor of our eighth anniversary!!
