Supply and Demand.

The top end goes crazy because of limited supply relative to demand--the demand curve shifts up as more potential bidders are added to the pool. While it is interesting to hear everyone's emotional response to the watches and about shifting preferences among models, simple economics will always dicate the state of the market.
