The power reserves when new of most of the movements are a matter of record, but it will be interesting to see how that had changed over the years with potentially tens of thousands of winding cycles put into the mainsprings of some of the older watches. On that note, and given some of the older movements do not have a clutch or similar to prevent over-winding, can I suggest discretion as the better part of valour when winding up the oldies and stopping at the first sign of serious resistance!
Might give some pointers to which watches might need a new mainspring sooner rather than later too, I know there is a fair amount of variation between some of mine with the same movements in.
