Re: Carrera 1153
In Response To: Carrera 1153 *PIC* ()

Hi Michael
Very interesting piece you have there and one that I have suspected existed after some sightings in the wild which may have been the same watch.
I would suggest checking the serial number again. The general consensus is that the automatic Carrera series with Calibre 11 starts at 147xxx so you could be misreading the 7 for a 1.
The dial is very rare and to my eyes very beautiful. Obviously the known version, reference 1153S would have black sub-registers with circular ridges. On this dial the sub-registers look flat and recessed. At first I though the printing on the sub-registers was a little odd but to me it looks original. The rest of the dial including printing and markers is correct. So too is the inner bezel which like the dial is an early version going from 50 to 200 albeit in the incorrect position – the word tachy should be at the 3 position.
The hour and minute hands could be correct. They are the correct size and length and suitably aged. The alternative would be similar hands with a black line running down the length and matching the hour markers. The other hands are incorrect.
Like you, I will be very interested to hear what some of the other forum members have to say about this watch/dial and maybe we have another new entry.
This is a great project watch and I look forward to seeing it restored to its former glory. Of course we need some word from our experts
Regards
Paul
