Agree Jeff, there are some rare references on Autavias but agree it seems often the tendency is for people to make them rarer than they are...not really needed as in comparison to most models many Autavia are rare enough without gilding lily. I suspect many later manual wind and auto refs only saw dial production in the low 100-200 range.
Some examples are truly rare for eg
2446 4th exec - 1 seen
7763C silver - 1
3646 indy silver - 1
2446 3rd exec tachy dial - 2
2446C silver - 3
Perhaps we should keep a well documented page of rare serials like your 2446/3646 Big Subs for a wider selection of rare variants, that might help people to understand more easily the numbers involved...

: This is a nice looking pair, but to suggest that there are only
: 20 in existence seems to be just plain wrong. I would guess that
: we have seen at least three or four dozen of these Diver 100
: Autavias over the last decade, which leads me to believe that
: there were hundreds produced. Perhaps you are referring to the
: bezel / watch combination . . . but I'm not sure.
: With all due respect, I don't think we help the hobby with claims
: of "one of five known"; "10% of total in
: existence"; “rarest execution”; etc. They are great
: timepieces; admired by enthusiasts; but to suggest that we only
: know of 20 is more a statement about our limited knowledge than
: it is a meaningful statement about the history of these watches.
: I recognize that this is my own pet peeve; of course, all of us can
: describe the watches as we see fit and make whatever claims we
: might like to make!!
