were described as being "brand new, 100% authentic, made in Italy" (Luxottica now owns B&L's Ray Ban brand) and, shipping from Port Clinton, Ohio, USA. I found out last night they have shipped from Nanyang, China according to the tracking number. The seller's note to me was obviously not from a native Ohioan as he wrote in very poor English that made little sense. So now after watching the Top Gear video, I fear the worst. Thanks Stewart, lol! I'll bet the sunglasses are fake! The seller had 10 available at a screaming low $43.99 (with free shipping) and all were snapped up on e-bay in less than 2 hours. When I clicked "Buy it Now" I have to admit the old adage "if it seems too good to be true, it probably is too good to be true" was running through my mind at that moment. The auction description claimed "Fast Shipping with a delivery ETA of "on or before Oct. 03" to my zip code. Well, they shipped yesterday from "Nanyang" so I'm guessing the slow boat hasn't even hit the water yet, lol! Once the sunglasses arrive I'll give them an intense examination 'cause I'm not gonna wear counterfeit product. I worked part time for an optometrist while attending college (back when Ray Bans were made in the US by B&L) so hopefully I'll be able to judge their authenticity since we sold lots of them back in the late 1970's. If they are fake, good luck getting the seller kicked off e-bay. I go through gyrations trying to have Asian sellers kicked off e-bay who sell very obviously fake versions of my employers products already!
Best regards,
Steve
