The second execution 2447 N is somewhat rare, but any premium for scarcity is likely offset by the general preference for the first execution, with the thinner markers and hands. And then there's the discount / deduction for the sloppy reluming.
My explanation: Two guys wanted this watch and they were not concerned about comparables, price guides, resales, etc.
It's almost time for me to tell a favorite auction story, "It's Not About the Watch . . . It's About Winning".

: Hi all,
: Just wanted to check what I'm missing on this Carrera - I had it
: pegged as a standard second gen. 2447N but the hammer price of
: £5,000 today (£6,500 with fees) came as a bit of a shock! I
: did handle the watch earlier and it seemed in very nice cosmetic
: shape (slight wear to the dial on the edge at 3) with a clean
: and sharp case, but still. Bonhams had it estimated at
: £1,500-2,000, which I thought was reasonable. Clearly others
: thought otherwise!
: Thanks,
: Lee
