Wonderful Seamaster as well - the only one I've ever been tempted to buy - and in the end I opted for a Speedy MkIV with the same movement.
Yes the 510.511 is small compared to the .501 - maybe the reason why I chose to keep the latter of the two, it feels more "substantial" at the wrist although it's fair to say the domed glass and the Carrera moniker on the dial make the .511 definitely the more iconic.
