Re: I don't have a horse in this race but...
I have spoken to the seller this morning as I thought it best to let them know the watch is being discussed.
I must stress on their behalf that the Monaco is being listed in such a way at such a price so as to attract interest and help clarify if it is rare, not right or otherwise and are adding information to the listing as they receive it from reputable sources. I don't see why everybody is so quick to shout 'fake' 'scam' or that they are trying to decieve.
They listed a Breitling Datora and rare Zenith in a similar way over the past years and sure enough they were uploaded to forums, discussed and sold at a relevant price.
In an effort to squash the 'scam' claims here is the full story...
The watch was bought genuinely through a reputable Italian auction Meeting Art (Check their auction in November 2014 Lot 144 where the serial number is logged in the catalogue as 162265) hence the serial number has not been altered, I suggest a typo on Antiquoroms part. Meeting Arts watch expert confirmed the watch to be correct before they bought it.
The watch was sent to Antiquorom who believed the watch to be correct and cataloged it ready for sale.
They suggested removing the watch from sale after receiving a comment from someone suggesting it might not be correct.
It was returned to the sellers who then listed it with full photography in an effort to find out if it was correct and rare.
Ralf Beinenz was emailed as he owned the watch in 2004 and he replied that he believed it to be correct. Hence why the photos still remain of it on the OTD reference section for the 1133... Why has this never been raised before in the ten years that photo has sat there.
A reported specialist in Germany messaged through ebay to ask for enlarged dial shots which were provided and after much back and forth he concluded that this was a test dial.
Now here we are... Let's have a genuine discussion on the reasons people are shouting fake, where is your evidence???
The sellers are being open and honest providing all the evidence they can to suggest why they feel it is rare...
