I'm not optimistic about the auction's result.

The auction may have been a bit too ambitious: 100 Heuers with plenty of marketing to drive prices into the stratosphere.

But in truth I think the inventory was just not good enough to warrant the hype. The 'grails' were limited to a PVD Monaco, a 3646 Tachy and a silver 3646 compressor. No All-lume 1st exec, Chronomatic or Skipperera.
Too many 'standard' models. But was this the auction to pick them up at an affordable price? Too many non-mint watches, yet without a proper grading system or condition report. Where those meant to end up in newbie collector's hands?

Pre-auction there was plenty marketing: All the sites, blogs and barcrews were chattering like there was no tomorrow.

When the auction went live the website proved cumbersome and hard to navigate. You couldn't find the 'hot items' nor the 'bargains' unless you spent an inordinate amount of time clicking. I also think the concept of (semi) blind bidding backfired and failed to invite and excite. All 'social' activity appeared to stop. Jeff started a few threads but didn't get a lot of response.

On the final morning C&C responded to Shaun's complaint by giving us that pdf. It was then obvious that the final hours would be crucial to success.

Had there been any remarkable results I'm pretty sure somebody would have said something. Yet we got nothing but silence.Post auction C&C announced that final figures would only be published "after payment has been received". From the small print it appears that bids are non-binding and the legal transaction occurs only when the "buy offer" is accepted.

We'll just have to wait and see. I'm itching to get my hands on those results and see if enough bids materialized in those last 3 hours or if any of those non-binding bids evaporated when called.
