I won't attempt a comprehensive analysis of recent sales results, and I have no hard data to support this suggestion, but it seems to me that the 1960s Carreras are making a strong move in the vintage market.
Tonight, we saw a Carrera 2447 Decimal Minutes fetch $8,800 -- http://www.ebay.com/itm/142298145510
Last week, we saw a Carrera 2447 Tachymeter (co-branded for Abercrombie) on an instant BuyItNow, at $7,500 -- http://www.ebay.com/itm/152453172205
Dealers seem to be in the $10,000 to $15,000 range for the early 2447S or 2447N, if the watches are nice.
Are the 1960s Carreras moving into the vacuum left by the Autavias? Are we seeing beaten crystals hiding beautiful dials (and if so, then how much will the beautiful ones sell for)? New appreciation for the perfect design of a chronograph?
So what are you seeing / feeling in the market?
