The person who we feel sorry for is the original owner of the watch, who may have switched out the Indianapolis Motor Speedway dial for the more common Andretti dial.
The eBay seller was not the original owner, and she did not have any information about the history / background / ownership of the dial that she was selling. No pity for her, she knew within minutes of posting the eBay listing that the dial was very valuable, and I believe that she turned down offers well above the $6,276 that she ended up with on eBay. And, of course, she also had the eBay fees, etc.

: Darren,
: I assume by this that you mean that the owner did not get enough
: for this dial?
: I think that one cool thing about eBay is that the owner (if he was
: naive) got a lot for his dial because people all over the world
: saw it. Another cool thing about eBay is that we all know this
: dial...we have pictures and we can all know it when the put
: together watch comes up for sale.
