: My two cents adding to the great discussion here, my guess is this
: watch given the relatively early serial number (69'XXX) was
: originally born with a silver or white dial and that it went
: back for service at Heuer Time Corporation (HTC) in NYC and at
: that point the customer was given the option of a new dial. Over
: the years, I have seen a few watches that went through service
: at HTC and had a variety of things done to them that probably
: would not have been done in Switzerland, changes in dials and
: hands, etc. for customers. My sense is that the Swiss would have
: been a bit more OCD and not put an Autavia dial in a Carrera
: case, but that HTC had a variety of odd components sent to them
: from Switzerland for various watches. Perhaps the owner saw a
: Carrera 2447NST in a store window or advertisement and asked if
: he could get something similar, and they had this Autavia dial
: that was the closest option. But I have extremely strong doubts
: that this watch left the factory in Switzerland in this
: configuration.
