Heuer 844

Hi
I have a Heuer 844 which is fitted with a ETA 2824-2 movement. From various searches on the web it seems like this watch was fitted with many different mech from including 2872 2878 and 2739's!
Does anyone know the history behind this or is it simply that they all started life with something like an ETA 2872 but have been repaired with compatible alternatives over the years.

Finally the case back on mine was knackered so I've replaced it with one stamped with Tag Heuer 980.006.... if anyone has an 844 case back that they want to sell or trade let me know and I will put someting in the appropriate section in this forum.

Thanks
Ben
