you forgot one important detail...

that cheap fakes will not last multiple generations. i have handled my share of fakes from high end fakes to low end fakes and the quality of materials and craftmanship is not there, sorry. you may convince a novice, but anyone who has handled the real thing and understands what makes a timepiece valueable or not will not agree.

the cases on the fakes will corrode and rust. the water resistance is not there as they typically don't use screwdown crowns,etc. the dials will fade, and the chinese movements will not run more than 10 years on average.

also to Jeff's point it is illegal. that should be reason enough as theft is theft. while your not the theif, your supporting the maker who is and that's just as bad in my book.

if you would like an affordable quality mecahnical timepiece i would recommend a hamilton. at least wearing a hamilton you can hold your head high as your not trying to fool people into thinking you have a rolex or tag or whatever. just my $0.02
