Would not affect value IMHO..

David, it would not affect value in my opinion. If you replaced the glass with a standard mineral crystal, no one would know if it was the glass fitted at the Heuer factory or fitted an hour before. Personally, if I had the choice, I would fit a sapphire - it's as factory but better. At the end of the day it is glass, nothing more or less.

I recently had a new sapphire crystal fitted to a Silverstone.. the choice of mineral or crystal was an easy one, so I say go for it, it would not affect value. At the end of the day, for $20 or so, any new buyer could fit a mineral glass to it anyway, returning it to 'standard', so at the very least, to the purist of purists, the value lost would only be $20.

: The original crystal in my 11630 is really messed up. It looks like
: someone tried to polish it and the result was that the crystal
: "hazed over" from a million micro-scratches.

: I don't know where I'd buy a replacement mineral crystal, but I
: know a sapphire aftermarket crystal is available. Obviously
: sapphire is superior and would make the watch a better daily
: wearer IMO, but I'd like to know how installing it would affect
: my watch's value?

: I know personally that a aftermarket crystal wouldn't bother me
: since it's just a piece of glass and not in the same category
: (in my mind at least) as a dial, hands, bezel, etc., but I'd
: like to hear from the OTD community.
