Very interesting question and I look forward to more answers.

I am biased in my answer as I have had made sapphires for the Silverstone and
Autavia and retail them so please take my input with a grain of salt.

From a technology standpoint the sapphire is night and day better and the vast
majority of new watches over the 1k mark wear a sapphire crystal.

If as Stewart said any future owner was bothered by the sapphire he could swap
it out for a few bucks though I doubt any one would.

I think that if questioned by their watchmaker during a service they would choose
sapphire over mineral crystal.

Would you put 1950's oil in your car for the sake of originality or take advantage of
newer technology.
