Discussion of "Orange Boy" / Poor Quality of Catalog Print
In Response To: Poor colour repro?.. ()

Tino's message reads as follows:

what is the background of the orange Autavia 1163? there are about known 15 samples worldwide - the orange autavia shows elements of the vicerory but also 3 orange bars in the minute register as known from later 11630 models.

is it possible that this is the last 1163 model ever produced (besides the viceroy) and that is the direct ancestor of the 11630 line? how is it possible that the same model shows up with tachy and MH bezel - but both with the same
black colour dial - while the tachymeter bezeled autavias had typically bright dials (siffert, 11630T?).

our specialist Arno thinks that the Autavia shown on page 10 of the 1972 brochure is actually orange and only appears red because of a bad printing quality (even the calculator next to it appears to red)?

    i love the mystery thread!

    best wishes from vienna

    Tino

: this came up - and you guys discussed this page of the
: catalogue... and came to the conclusion that the printing is
: 'off'.. the oranges have come out more red, you can see on the
: Calc, that it's orange bits are overly red too.. I'll dig out
: the discussion.. ah, yes.. it was Arno that pointed out that the
: printing quality issue - but I can't find the original
: discussion.
