Yacht Racing Rules (1969) -- White, Blue and Red
In Response To: Re: Serial Numbers Tell the Story ()

The Yacht Racing Rules of the International Yacht Racing Union, as adopted by the North American Yacht Racing Union (1969), provide that the signals for starting a race shall me made at 5-minute intervals, and each shall be

  • Warning Signal -- White shape;
  • Preparatory Signal -- Blue shape
  • Starting Signal -- Red shape
So that would seem to explain the white -- blue -- red sequence.
