load of codswallop,
every automatic Omega my wife and I have owned, (total of 8) have been serviced, by the same independant London dealer, on about 3 yearly intervals. Maximum cost on one occasion (for a ladies seamaster) £120, which included new glass and crown.Average is about £70.
New battery and re-seal for a quartz model is about £70 from Omega, or £35-40 from a none authorised dealer including pressure check. (of course if waterproofing isn't an issue, then a new battery can be as little as £5)
shop around, ask questions and get word of mouth approval from quality watch owners who have used good repairers.
