I agree completely. I would be embarrassed to wear the special edition which is nothing more than a gratuitus marketing ploy and is aimed at 007 fanatics, not quality watch purchasers, IMHO.

For me, I'd rather have a classic still in production rather than a modified 'commemorative' edition of that classic. It's also interesting that the timing coincides with a new Bond film.

I didn't buy my SMP because it was used in some James Bond movies. I bought it because I liked it and it was reviewed well.

I'd be darned if I would pay a premium for a modifed version to advertise the fact that Omega watches were chosen for inclusion in a movie by some producer for use by a ficticious character.

I think years from now people will view its as silly as a Rolex with a Domino's pizza logo on it, which I saw on some site not to long ago. In terms of long term value its hard to tell. I think you should buy the watch you really want.
