Re: new 007 watch
In Response To: Re: new 007 watch ()

Went through the same exercise a little over a month ago. Finally decided against purchasing the "so-called" special edition after:

1) having done much research that convinced me that 10,007 units is no limited edition and should not carry a premium for that reason alone;

2) realizing that this is, after all, an expensive piece of jewellery and not some gadget and should, therefore, in my opinion at least, be at least a bit "serious";

3) realizing that all that "007" tack-ons do not really fit and somewhat spoil the distinguised look of this watch, which I would categorize as both sporty AND dressy;

4) the REAL Bond watch is the classic, neutral, timelessly elegant SMP, which happens to be the cheapest of the two by a significant margin (especially in light of the fact that interesting discounts can be had on the regular and just about none on the special...).

I therefore bought my standard SMP and couln't be happier with it. I think that unless you want to be able to say "Hey! I got one of those special Bond editions in my collection!", you should stick with the regular as your everyday watch.

Just my two cents!

Best regards and good luck in making your decision!

Claude

: The watches are identical in every way, except
: for the cosmetic details of one having the
: 007 logos all over it.

: So really it is entirely up to your personal
: preference as to which you like better and
: whether all those Bond logos are worth an
: extra $400 to you.

: My recommendation is to go with the regular
: version. While all the Bond logos might be a
: neat idea at the moment, it is more likely
: something that you will get tired of or
: bored with quicker.
