Omega won several chronometric competitions and made some of the most sognificants movements. Omega has the credit to have built the best handwound movement the calibre 30 followed by the cal 600-610-611 and 613. Bult also in automatic movements Omega had a better quality of movements than rolex till the mid 70's. Rolex mainly used chrono movements from valjoux and zenith in its daytona before making it inhouse. Omega used to work with Lemania for over 50 years, the partnership ended in 1985 when Lemania was sold to Heuer who resold Lemania to Investcorp in 1989 which 10 years later was baught by Breguet. Omega and Lemania made some of the most desirable chrono movements. Today Omega went with piguet for giving birth to the 33xx and same thing with Eta for creating the coaxial. But the movements are not modified by Omega but by the movements manufacturers for Omega. I would have prefered to see Omega modifiying those movements.
A lot of problems have been reported with the 33xx, now they seem to be less frequent but that movement itself is not a movement made to support high shocks or rough activities. Also what none said about the coaxial is that is far thinner that a 3135 and by consequence far less robust.The coxial 25xx, 26xx and 24xx are tall movements, I think they are more more belonging to dress watches than something else.
