very clear, but polite" letter would be
a good start. There's no need to generate
any unnecessary animosity.

The fact that Omega has done nothing with the watch is revolting is scandalous when you pay for a watch over $5000 you are in the right to have aperfect and immediate customer service not to be put on a so long waiting situation this is why I agree with Chuck's method and approach in this case.
