Well things have evolved in the watch industry and prices have gone insane. Omega isn't a manufacture as it used to be and lost a part of its prestige that it used to have before the Hayek Eta era. Omega made very reliable and very accurate movements that were inhouse and equal if not better than Rolex movements. Omega now is an assembleur not a manufacture as compared to Rolex which is 100% manufacture. In a manufacture things are made inhouse, controls are more stricter and quality better.
The coaxial is a very recent movement with a nice aesthetic finish but it is very far to have the 18 years of proven feedback and robustness of a rolex 3135. I personnally won't buy a watch with a movement that has no feedback or that uses an ebauche not modified inhouse. Omega movements are subcontracted that wasn't the case in the past. See the nightmares with 33xx and the 1120 sudden stops and you will understand why I am not a fan of the modern Omega.
Rolex is an investment and if you buy a model that is gnerally aftersought you won't lose money. Also for servicing Rolex, you have to know who you are dealing with. In the USA, there are very very few competent and experienced watchmakers that is why you read so many horror stories, I also have seen crappy restorations from Omega Bienne. I prefer to go to an independant experienced watchmaker instead of having my watch service/restored by a n00b who works for Omega/Rolex.Many things in the after sales services not only for Omega and Rolex have gotten worse, they just charge you more and the result is sometimes very mediocre.
