Re: the price of the rolex and co-axial

: both watches were purchased in the same week. i
: paid around $2,600 (pre-tax) for the
: Seamaster after Jared gave their discount of
: 15%.

: My submariner set me back $5,175.00 (pre-tax)

: There was no discount available on the rolex
: and i purchased it from a different AD than
: my omega because buying a watch from Jared
: where I live is like buying an HDTV from
: best buy- the sales staff have absolutely no
: idea about the product they are selling- so
: i will no longer buy from them.

: Like i said in my previous post-my omega and
: rolex are both great watches, but the rolex
: looks like more attention to detail was paid
: in the whole process of making the watch. i
: think that is hard for the people on this
: post to comprehend because MOST of you on
: this forum want to say negative things about
: rolex everytime you get the chance-or at
: least try to agree with someone who has.
: this is the only forum i frequent where
: omega owners never want to admit the quality
: of a rolex. i am on rolex forums where the
: members have said in several posts that
: omegas are also great watches-but FEW of the
: members on this forum will ever say that
: about a rolex. i don't understand.

I am not anti-Rolex, nor do I go out of my way to bash them. I know that they make high quality watches and I respect the fact that people have different tastes in what they choose to buy. My own reasons for not buying a Rolex center primarily around the price. After all, $5375 plus tax for a Sea Dweller is quite steep when I could buy a Planet Ocean and two regular Seamasters for the same price (less the discount from an Omega AD which you will not get from a Rolex AD). I also happen to dislike the oyster bracelet and clasp in comparison to Omega's bracelets and clasps, and I find the cyclops date magnifier to be an eyesore. What I do like about Rolex are the high quality dials, the white gold encased applied dial markers, the "clean" look of the Sub non-date 14060M, and the overall look of the Sea Dweller. I also know that Rolex movements are of high quality. If they weren't, they wouldn't have been in production this long. I just happen to feel that their pricing is getting a bit out of control, especially given the fact that you can't get a discount from an AD the way you can with Omega.

Still, to each his own. If you love Rolex watches and feel they are worth every penny, that's all that matters. There's no right or wrong, only different opinions and different tastes.
