Similar ownership experience sharing the same thoughts, while I haven't owned a Daytona I have owned a 16200 Datejust, a 114270 Explorer, and finally own a 16610 Sub....for what I paid for each of them I expected alot more in the finish/workmanship department, and with the latter two I had hoped for good company support which just never panned out...not to mention the dealers of the pieces were "ok" but nothing spectacular, certainly snobby...which typically isn't something I like.
I think the current prices are laughable after this latest increase and like you wouldn't buy another especially given what is available from others, namely Omega...
My next watch will likely be either a Deville Co Axial or an Aqua Terra...
I somewhat relate Rolex to Tiffany sterling, alot of money for a brand name and percieved status, but a product that is mediocre...
