Thanks for your advice and encouragement. The crystal is better than it looks in the e-bay pics, but somewhere down the road some polishing might be in order.
And whlle e-bay has made watch hunting both easier and harder, there will still be bargains. In the guitar world, the same friend bought a $25K guitar for $9500, and a $9500 guitar for $4200.
I'm done looking for $1000 Speedys. But I'll let you know when I find a $1500 Autavia Siffert.
