welcome to the forum & congratulations on what I think is your first post.
You quoted me in your reply & then chose to make some remarks on my words. Please allow me to reproduce the quote with the previous sentence.
I wrote :- IF there had been problems with an automatic movement in , say, the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's or even the 90's Joe Public may not have heard about this. Since the Internet has appeared & Joe Public has access to it, the distribution of information has become MUCH easier & quicker.
Joe would probably not have heard of problem with a watch in Spain or Mexico, but due to the internet Joe can now.>
Your reply was based solely around the last sentence.
So what I'm actually saying ( in the 3 sentences ) is that in 2006 Joe (Public ) has access to the internet. where world wide problems can be ( almost ) instantaneously accessed. This was NOT an option to Joe (Public ) prior to the mid 90's. Spain or Mexico are EXAMPLE lands ( maybe I should have made this more clear ) I could just have easily said Texas & Alsaka ( I realize that these are states of the USA & not countries ) or England & Australia etc etc.
From here on I will reply to each of your comments / points.
Hi FJGS,
I can't beliebe, a man posting this ignorance in 2006.
I should generally appolgize for my English. It is my mother tongue. It was my worst grade in school, I got better grades in French & Latin than English :-(
I can. I posted it & I stand by my words. IF you read my original 3 sentences together it is a single point. The last sentence on it's own doesn't make much sense. I should not have put a line between the sentences. I appologize.
I supos itīs normal due to deficient education in USA (unother topic???)(only 3 or 4 hundred years history. In spain at least 3000 years of history).
Only 300 or 400 years of history in the USA ??? I think you are doing native American a great injustice. If you are talking about European settlers This webpage => http://usinfo.state.gov/products/pubs/histryotln/ seems to suggest that the first Europeans settled around 985 or 1001. I don't know where your claimed "Only 300 or 400 years of history" comes from
I don't claim to know much about the American education system. I've never experienced it first hand. What is your experience of it ?
I'd also be amazed if Spain "only" has 3000 years of history ... The first Homosapiens lived there 1000 BC ? I'm sure most of Europe was inhabited LONG before then.
Take a look to the map before you post this rubish.
??? what rubbish have I posted ? I don't understand your point here sorry.
SPAIN is in europe.
I am very much aware of that. I have had a holiday in Spain. I remember learning a great deal about how WE British beat the Spanish armada when the Spaniards tried unsuccesfully to invade England in 1588. I'm sure my teachers mentioned the fact that Spain lies in the Eurpoean continent. I also got a better grade in History than I did in English :-)
donot compare with Mexico please.
Please point out where I compared them ..... I won't hold my breath.
Spain is one of the 15 head countries in the world, and 5th of europe.
It could well be. Can you back up these claims ?
have 20 MB ADSL in the bath not to tell home...
I bet that's exciting for you
By the way. I own tree Omegas (seamaster 1970?'s, semaster 300, and de ville co axial). And I'm happy with all of them.
FINALLY ! some watch content to this post. I'm glad to read this, I'm glad to here that you enjoy your Omega watches. I thoroughly enjoy mine. Which seamaster from the 70's do you have ? I have a few of these ( divers models ) maybe we have similar taste in watches. I don't have a Seamaster 300 yet, but I will do oneday.
Do not forget that people use the internet to complain only when things go wrong, not when everything is fine. Thats the reason people only report problems.
If you mean what you have written, I'd agree. I am sure that I only complain when things go wrong, I don't usually complain when they go right.
Finally I'd like to tell you a bit about myself. I'm 45. I'm British ( I could claim to be English, but I prefer to see Britain as a combined nation & not as 4 seperate nations ). I live in Germany ( for 17 years now ) I have a German wife & Son. I speak fluent German.
Before moving to Germany I lived in the following countries. England, Scotland ( 9 years ), Malaysia ( 3 years ) Cyprus ( 2 Years ).
In 2007 I worked in Italy for 9 weeks ( spread over the year ) & USA ( 3 weeks )
In 2007 I visited ( including just driving through them ) the following countries Germany (I live there ), France ( 30 minutes away by car ), Switzerland ( drove through it at least 22 times on my way to / from => ), Italy ( to work & have a 2 week holiday with my family ), Austria ( I ski too ), Belgium ( I enjoy motorracing & was at Spa a few times, also driving to/ from the UK ), Luxembourg ( driving to/from the UK - Very cheap fuel there !), England ( I visited my family ) , USA ( to work ).
Current work projects include work for Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Hungary, Finland, Sweden & Denmark. I may be visiting these countries in 2008 / 2009
I don't claim to be an expert on Europe, but I do know a little bit about it.
Finally FJGS, I guess from your English that it is NOT your mother tongue. May I suggest that you don't react so extremely to a single sentence that you obviously did not fully understand.
How about you post some pics of your watches & tell us a little bit about them ?
I'd prefer to be postive & talk about watches than defend myself against personal attacks
All the Best
Steve
I assume that you mean that people "Complain Only" & (never) post when things are "fine". I'm not sure I can claim that as a fact. I read plenty of posts on this forum when people write about positive, pleasant experiences. So I'm afraid I'd have to disagree with you on that.
