I know very little, but to me it looks like a very beautiful watch. I know nothing about the value, but a watch like that, with a service and a new crystal, will last you another 40 years and more. Crystal (Glass) should be easy to find when you want to replace it. As it is a family heirloom, if it was me, I'd care for it, even wear it, and hand it down another generation. It would be nice to know its story.
I'd refer to the forum before having any work done on the watch. Basically, the less you do, the more value the watch holds. By that I mean, not getting the case polished, the dial (face) painted or touched at all. Rule number 1, less is best. Just look after the movement, that is, the motor.
If you happen to get the back taken off, definitely write the numbers down, even better, take some pics, and then someone will be able to tell you all about your Beautiful Omega Geneve. Amazing that none of your watchmakers? could identify this, for even I know this one.... :-))
