Re: Speedmaster Display Back not NASA Flight Quali

Thanks for the response. I apologize for incorrectly using 'SMP'. What is the correct abbreviation for 'Speedmaster Professional'? 'SP'?

I realize that the display back does not serve any functional purpose except to let the individual view the exceptional craftsmanship of the movement without taking the back off. NASA astronauts have more to worry about than admiring the mechanics that make their watch work while in space. Has there ever been an instance where an astronaut has taken the backing off while in space? Maybe to use one of the pieces to repair something? Or maybe just to kill some extra time? (Like they don't do anything up there)

Anyway again, thank you for your thoughts and insights. I look forward to learning more about the Omega Speedmaster Professional. Maybe if I am lucky one day, I will be wearing my Speedmaster Professional, with the display back, on a vacation to the moon or just into space. (Yeah, I wish)

Thanks again.

Chris
