I went to Ashford.com's office once, and had a look at a Longines Replica. the front guy told me it's quartz, I knew it's automatic and ashford web instructed it "chronometer" too. So I asked:"are you sure?", he was nice and said he would check, so he went to back. when he came out, he replied:"yeah, they say it's quartz."
One time at Macy's, the lady at watch dept. told me if a watch has a sub second hand above 6'oclock, it must be a quartz.
I have asked a Sak' fifth watch dept.lady if they are an authorized Omega dealer. she said:"I don't know, what the difference?"
The worst thing is even they don't know, they don't admit and try to mislead you. At one local Gordon Jeweler, the lady insisted that a mid-size Longines Conquest is man's size:"Of course it's man's size, what is mid-size?"
Therefore, remember next time: don't ask questions that "too professional"

: I just stopped by an authorized Omega dealer's shop in Rhodes,
: Greece. I tried on a 125 anniversary Seamaster, then asked
: the sales woman if she had a Bond model I could try on. She
: told me I was wearing the Bond model.
: I picked up a Constellation quartz to try on and asked if she
: had the automatic version. She told me I was wearing the
: automatic version. I showed her the second hand and
: explained that second hands on automatic watches don't jump
: a second at a time.
: We went through a similar scene over whether a red Schumacher
: Speedy was the original Moon Watch.
: I wonder if she went through Authorized Dealer School?
