Re: Anyone come from owning other brands to Omega?

My story is similar. I got "fed up" with ridiculous pricing and long waits for repairs. The biggest thing that pushed me away from Rolex forever is the internet and the ability to educate yourself on what is REALLY going on in the watch world.

Few luxury products suffer from more misinformation and even disinformation...some of it directly from the manufacturers themselves...some of it from TERRIBLE retail sales people.

As for why I went with Omega in particular:
I was very impressed with level of finish and I had talked to many watchmakers who all said Rolex movements are no better than ETA with minor upgrades. I love my electric blue SMP and black GMT. My wife wears her Aqua Terra every day.

To me, Rolex is THE status seekers watch, and MOST status seekers know nothing about watches, and don't care. Omega and Breitling and a few others strike me as watches for "people who KNOW watches", and are happy to talk to others about the hobby. Obviously, this is not true for all Omega models/owners.
