Re: collecting

Yes, women collect many things too but Hummels and shoe-collecting is not my cup of espresso.
I've found that there are only a select few of us (women) who truly enjoy collecting things and/or are hobbyists of things that have been typically male. Most of my friends just cannot understand my need to race cars. Yet there are a few of us who do and we have a great bond because of our oddity.

Watches are like cars in many ways -- things of beauty - sleek machines.
Personally, I'd rather spend money on a watch, car (or bigger brakes for track) than pay even $200 for a pair of shoes. (I'll buy those on sale or eBay!)

Investment value of watches: You can buy a Ferrari or Porsche and let it sit, gaining value or you can enjoy it like the guys at the Monterey Historics who race their antique cars and risk it all. They are meant to be enjoyed. I can't imagine buying a car or wristwatch and letting it sit, unused. What's the point. enjoy it while you can. As someone else here said, make your money other ways.
