Re: Something Special to Me...

Hi Jason,

I agree with you 100%. In April, my uncle died, and at the funeral service, I told my cousin that he had a huge amuont of strength to be able to eulogize his father, and that for all I knew that could be me "someday."

Exactly a week later my father passed away unexpectedly, at 64.

The experience has changed me completely, and I agree...it is all about not taking life for granted, time for granted (convenient for us since we are all watch collectors) and empathizing and understanding more.

I used this quote in the Eulogy I gave for my father. I hope it has meaning to you:

"Try to understand the true nature of things. Remember that time of death is uncertain. Think about the deeds you do. Make efforts to benefit others.

-Nagarjuna

Incidentally, I wasn't "much" of a watch collector before my father's passing (I had about 3 watches I wore all the time, including a Rolex), but he passed along a bunch, and now I am hooked. I feel like I have to "watch over the flock" so to speak.

: I am sorry as this is not a post about watches.
: I have learne a lot from this forum and
: wanted to share something special and tragic
: to me.
: My best four-leged friend Sirius passed away on
: Friday. He died while bringing his favorite
: ball back to my wife. Our vet beleives that
: it was a anarism to the brain and that he
: died suddenly and without pain. He was a 3
: year old Golden Retriever that my wife and I
: have had since the day he was born. The
: thing I have come to realize over the past
: couple of days is that while watches and
: things are great, it is really the
: relationships between friends, family and
: pets that really matter. Sirius tought me
: about unconditional love and enjoying life.
: While I am deeply sadened by his passing I
: believe he is happy where he is, and is
: waiting, not matter how long it takes until
: I am up there with him. I did not realize
: how much I loved Sirius until Friday, and
: how petty and unimportanta things like money
: and gas prices really are.
: I am sorry this is not watch related, but I
: wanted to post this somewhere where the
: poeple matter to me. Thank you for reading
: and God bless all of you for caring.
