Re: Haven't really heard of a problem with the GMT

: One thing people forget with their mechanical watches is that they
: NEED to be used or at least run on a winder. For a watch to set
: for several years with almost no wear, number one comes to mind
: is the OIL. It will sink and coagulate or just dry out. Running
: a watch with dry oil will cause wear and tear and possible
: breakage of a part(s). As was said, you have a fine watch but it
: needs professional attention. Think of your watch movement like
: the engine in a car.
: After sitting for several years all the oil will be in the pan and
: gunk.

Thanks for the responses. I guess it just needs servicing and i will probably have to buy a watch winder. It only sits for 1 or 2 months max between uses. I am still disappointed that I paid that kind of money for a watch and leave it for a relatively short time only to find it has a problem. I can leave a car for months and it will start no problems! I wouldn't have thought they put that much lubrication in a watch that it hardens and causes the watch to stop working especially to the extent that the hour hand won't go past 12 midnight.
