Added to OnTheDash -- Seaferer, Ref. 346, Second Execution

Added to OnTheDash -- photos of this amazing Abercrombie & Fitch Seafarer, Reference 346, second execution.

Heuer developed the Seafarer for Abercrombie & Fitch, with the first models introduced in 1950. These first models used the case from the Heuer Reference 346 chronograph, a 38 millimeter waterproof case. The first execution showed the colorful tide dial through a 180 degree cut-out (at 9 o'clock), but in the second execution the tide dial is fully visible (360 degrees). All these Reference 346 Seafarers feature oversized registers, with the five-minute markings on the minute recorder being useful for racers to time the start of a regatta.

The Reference 346 Seafarers were powered by a modified version of the Valjoux 71 movement, with Heuer soon switching to the smaller Valjoux 72 for the Seafarer. The Seafarer would be offered in many configurations over the next 20 years, but there is something special about the way these first ones were built. They are rock solid!!
