Huge thanks to Nico Henke for spotting this excellent photo of Joe Siffert, wearing his "Chronomatic" Autavia.
Two very interesting things about this photo:
-- It was taken at the Monza 1000 kilometer event, on Friday, April 25, 1969 . . . so this is very early for anyone to be wearing a Chronomatic Autavia. Perhaps this highlights Siffert's role as a true ambassador / salesman for Heuer chronographs. He was out in the field immediately, selling the new chronographs.
-- The bezel is marked in Hours / Minutes, rather than the Tachymeter bezel that we usually associate with the "Jo Siffert" Autavias. We have noticed this MH bezel previously, but it is interesting to see this on a Chronomatic Autavia in April 1969. Was this a personal preference for Jo Siffert [seems more likely] or perhaps there was some delay in the production of the Tachymeter bezels [seems less likely]. In any event, this is the clearest photo of Jo Siffert's Autavia that we have seen.
