Re: Heuer Autavia 1163 Bezel Search Do's and Don'ts

: I don't think the Heuer community is all that different from the
: Omega community in-so-far-as the aftermarket parts thing is
: concerned. I have a great aftermarket DON Speedmaster bezel but
: I don't think the watch would fool anybody with a bit of
: knowledge. You can get decent Heuer bezel inserts but they will
: never fool a Heueristo. I think whether it is a good thing or a
: bad thing is up to the owner. I would never have an aftermarket
: bezel on something in my collection but to wear...like
: daily...maybe OK.

: The trouble with a bezel for a 1163v is that the same bezel can
: work on a much more expensive Autavia so the good original ones
: sell for way too much to spend on a Viceroy. Sort of like trying
: to buy a Bezel For a Speedy 145-012-65 which is the same DON
: bezel to fit a 2998-1...right. I am just not a big fan of buying
: projects unless they are really cheap...and I mean really.
: Projects always seem to cost me more than they are worth.

Thanks for your feedback John. Your comments confirm what I thought might be the case. I have been offered an aftermarket insert on an original bezel ring from a very reputable source. The bezel looks great to my novice eye, but I am cautious. The cost about 100 euro less than an original M/H in nice
condition.
