number on tag heuer 1000

Hallo,

Could anyone tell me what the number on my tag heuer 1000 diver tells me ?
The number is 980 029.L

Is it correct that the TAG HEUER 1000 diver is much lighter (weight) than my 3 years old TAG HEUER 2000 exclusive ? (both mens models quartz)
