THANKS / These Are the Toughest Questions
In Response To: RE: Auction has been closed ! ()

thank you for doing what seems to be the "right thing". of course, if Heuer will authenticate this watch, then you will have a very rare watch to sell, and one about which there will be no doubts.

It is so difficult to know about these watches. I have seen some crazy looking watches, that I believed to be poor-quality fakes (for example, the Heuer Modena). Then we learn that rather than being a cheap fake, it is actaully either a rare prototype or an early / limited production / very rare model. It is often possible to authenticate a watch as being original; often very difficult to be certain that a watch is fake. How can we prove, to a certainty, that Heuer didn't make it -- maybe as a prototype or for a particular market? Can we be certain, before we make the accusations?

On the Modena, shown below, we laughed that the dial refinisher must have gotten confused with the cities in Italy!! How could Heuer have made a "Modena"? Then we learned that it was genuine.

I sincerely appreciate that you have taken the step to end this auction. This shows great integrity, in that you want to ensure that you are only selling that which you can confirm to be genuine.

please let us know what you learn about this watch.

Jeff
