Re: Will sports use damage mechanical movement on

I have heard alot of people say that same thing about playing golf with an auto wind watch on, also tennis and handhand ball...personally I have never heard of anyone actually damaging their watch from these actions (except for the bracelets).....Also I believe that Omega and other well made work type (as opposed to dress watches) watches are alot tougher (and water resistant)than they get credit for.....the above is in reference to newer watches not antiques, I have seen damage to older bumper wind watches etc. from people being to rough on the weight and center bearing, but with the change over to roller bearings in the weight the problem has all but disappeared....I have a friend who is a professional hydroplane race boat driver which in my mind is one of the roughest rides in the world, I mean talk about vibration and g-forces,it can't get much worse than bouncing on the water at 100mph, anyway he wears a rolex sub and has for 10+years a never has had a problem with the wind mechinism and he has the watch serviced every year, he said the dealer just does the basic maintenace while he waits and gives it back. Any way your omega smt is at least as good as a rolex..if not better......
