Re: Comparative Review of The Omega Seamaster vs.

Very interesting, John. I do agree with most of what you said. I must say, however, that I am totally perplexed by the fact that you actually rated the Rolex's bracelet higher than the Omega's. You seem to have placed a bit too much emphasis on the fact that the Omega might be prone to more scratches and that its pins are a little difficult to remove/insert.

It all boils down to the QUALITY of the bracelet, not whether it MIGHT show scratches (let's face it, any bracelet will show scratches over time). You even said it yourself...the Rolex bracelet feels cheap (unacceptably so for a $4000 watch). By contrast, the Omega bracelet feels like a finely crafted piece of jewelry, and the polished/brushed contrast makes it look far more unique and attractive than the plain old Rolex band. Don't even get me started on the K-Mart quality of the Rolex's clasp. I have cheap $40 quartz watches with the exact same clasp.

If you don't believe me about the differences in bracelet quality, just try this - pick up an Omega and you'll notice how smoothly and freely the links move on the bracelet. Pick up a Rolex and you'll think the links need some WD-40.
