Yes, that's the correct behaviour.

If COSC allows for -4/+6 a day, this means -120/+180 per month.

There are a number of lucky guys (I used to be one of them once) who can compensate for the deviations by placing the watch in a certain position at night. Mine however, freshly overhauled in Bienne, gains 6 per day, no matter how I twist and turn it. ;-)

I have two different stances on accuracy, and they are closely tied to how I'm traveling to my clients: 1) When I travel by train, a deviation of a single minute (no matter if fast or slow) drives me nuts, but 2) when I travel by car, I couldn't care less if the watch is a few minutes off.

Public transport in Germany is almost always in time, at least for departure. So should I ever (hopefully, as I really hate driving) be able to travel by train again, I'll probably look out for a nice quartz watch, since I suppose it's better for my nerves. ;-)
